Bright and airy 4th-floor apartment designed by an architect. It was originally two separate apartments and is very spacious. The living room has three double windows opening onto a bustling, tree-lined street, two rear windows opening onto a quiet area, and a modern, fully equipped bar-kitchen. The double bedroom faces onto a quiet courtyard. The building is early 19th century, typical of the period, with narrow corridors and stairwell, and has a tiny, modern lift installed ten years ago. The courtyard is well maintained, with shrubs and plants. The neighborhood is lively and interesting, mixing the old and the new in the best Paris tradition. There are pleasant walks along the broad waterway of Bassin de la Villette, with two cinema complexes, leisure facilities and art installations, or along the historic Canal Saint Martin (1825), with its cafés, boutiques, restaurants and open-air events. The historic park of Buttes Chaumont (1867) is five minutes walk from the apartment. Nearby avenue Secrétan is a busy, traditional shopping street with a covered market. Parc de la Villette, the biggest park in Paris, is within walking distance. There youll find exhibition halls, theatre and concert venues, an IMAX cinema, and the biggest Science Museum in Europe. Public transport is very good, with three metro lines from Stalingrad, just outside the building, and several buses. The main-line stations of Gare de lEst and Gare du Nord are less than ten minutes walk away. The express RER underground can take you from Gare du Nord to Notre Dame, Place St Michel or the Luxembourg Gardens in just a few minutes. Access to the airport Charles de Gaulle is made easy by the RER rail connection from the Gare du Nord, There are fast rail connections (TGV) from Gare du Nord to Brussels and London.
