This modern update of the classic artist's studio is perfectly located right in the historic heart of the Marais, the chic-est part of Paris. It's on the top floor (with a glass lift) where it looks out across Paris's classic rooftops and terracotta chimney-pots. You can see the toy-box Centre Pompidou and glimpse the floodlit Notre Dame at night. Three double-glazed south-facing windows open over a quiet courtyard, where Stellar McCartney has her Paris HQ. The flat has super-fast internet (optical fibre, Wi-Fi or LAN), a pivoting television screen with lots of channels (BBC, SkyUK, CNN, etc), plus a well organised kitchen with a microwave/grill, full electric stove, fridge and everything you'll need. Shelves, storage systems and tables can be used independently as desk and/or dining. There's a washing machine and clothes dryer, and the thick mattress on the double sofa-bed ensures comfortable sleep. The Hôtel de Ville, les Halles, Bastille, the River Seine, Notre Dame cathedral and lots of fascinating museums (Picasso, Carnavelet, etc.) and galleries are within easy walking distance. The busy Metro Line 1 takes you to the Louvre in 10 minutes, the Champs Élysées (15 mins) and the Eiffel Tower (30 mins), and the fast RER trains at les Halles connect with the airports. Catch the lift to the ground floor and the Marais streets have everything you want: boutiques, supermarkets, bakeries, banks, post offices, the elegant BHV department store, plus lots of cafés, restaurants, small bars and clubs. But be warned: once you stay here, you may never want to go home again. Click on image to view at full size |
